FRIENDS OF THE FARMER FOOD FESTIVAL MISSION
FarmOn! FOUNDATION Cornell Cooperative Extension of Columbia and Greene Counties, 4H, QuestarIII, H.A.R.V.E.S.T. Club Taconic Hills School, Columbia Land Conservancy WE ARE STANDING UP for our farming community and food choices. WE ARE FUNDING EDUCATION for the next generation of farmers to achieve viable livelihoods in agriculture by raising funds and awareness in the community for educational programs while promoting commerce and access to local food sources. Established with the launch of the inaugural Friends of the Farmer Festival in July 2011, we are proud to launch the FarmOn! Foundation, which supports and funds education for the next generation of farmers and the future of farming in America. In partnership with Cornell Cooperative Extension of Columbia & Greene Counties, 4H, QuestarIII, CLC camps and H.A.R.V.E.S.T. Club of Taconic Hills School for implementation in the region, students will have the opportunity to continue studies in Agricultural Sciences with the entrepreneurial spirit to foster careers in agriculture related businesses. The time seemed right to support the farm to table locavore mission by creating programs to allow students to benefit from the great farmland resource they have in this country and particularly in the agriculturally rich region of the Hudson River Valley in New York State and offer curriculum and programs for learning, apprenticeship, awareness and commerce as they cultivate the land, their minds and the farms that keeps us so well fed. July 8-12, 2013 | 9am-5pm | Taconic Hills High School Students develop profitable ideas for the farm with an entrepreneurial spirit to inspire continued studies in Agricultural Education Cornell Extension accredited programs, viable livelihoods in farming and promote succession in the industry. $10,000 in total was raised and donated to agriculture educational programs in the Hudson Valley community in 2011 & 2012 FarmOn!
