Our Programs

Local Farm to School Milk Initiative: Started 2012

$5K will provide fresh quality local Hudson Valley Fresh milk to ONE local school district for an entire school year. FarmOn! Foundation is the first to sponsor and implement a local dairy program in NYS to local school districts — the program is at work and working — kids are drinking nutritious milk and more of it. The need is great and we currently have a waiting list of schools and colleges that want to be involved as we underwrite this programming. 15 school districts await our funding, right now.

Camp FarmOn! Summer Camp: Started 2011

$10K will sponsor an entire week of summer camp for 20 students. To connect children to seed and soil is the only way to insure agricultural vitality. Children need to know where their food comes from. Your help provides them with this opportunity and ensures professional educators lead this experience. Camp FarmOn! Is an enrichment program implemented by Taconic Hills Central School District in partnership with Cornell Cooperative Extension, 4H, Questarlll and Catskills School District. 2014 will be year three of this programming where kids visit local Farms and Ag related businesses, come up with a profitable solutions to current Ag issues and pitch it to a “shark tank” for potential investment.

FarmOn! Foundation Farm Interns

$10k provides food, lodging, insurance and transportation for one intern/season. Our interns are the future of farming. At the FarmOn! Community Center for Agriculture & educational incubator as a working farm, we connect the next generation to sustainable farming practices with the entrepreneurial spirit insuring our food safety and economic development of the Hudson Valley, by linking people, education and resources for viable livelihoods in agriculture. This program will begin September 2014 at the new FarmOn! farm.

FarmOn! Foundation Seed Program Wallapini in your Name

$15K will underwrite production, seed, and soil maintenance for one season for one year round crop and geo-thermal ‘wallapini’ 4-season sustainable underground greenhouse. We continue to source air pollinated, bio-dynamic organic seed and best practices of seed saving and banking with regional producers to maintain a higher quality of organic produce.

Succession + Commerce + Community + Sustainability

Raising your replacement is a legacy in a multi-generational farm. Without our food demand, however — those kids will leave the farm —they will pursue careers off the land and there will be no succession in farming. We will lose our family farms and viable, local livelihoods that come from them.

FarmOn! Foundation seeks to reinvigorate a respect for farming by bringing awareness to better food choices and sources, to inspire youth careers in agriculture and succession on family farms. Large or small, your support is priceless and these initiatives ensure our important work continues for the FarmOn! Foundation.

FarmOn! Foundation pioneer: starts at $50k annual pledge

Farmon! Foundation educational scholarship collaborative pledges: A yearly pledge will fund students of Agriculture in many programs available to the FarmOn! Foundation. In order to bring the best in Ag to the next generation, we need to pair the entrepreneurial spirit with agriculture skills - through workshops, seminars, collaborative projects with local schools, colleges, NYC chefs, NYS businesses and communities, FarmOn! creates a think tank of the best in the NYState sharing food knowledge. Farms are an economy of scale, and Agricultural viability demands Agricultural educational options for our kids.

FarmOn! Foundation founding patron: starts at $100k annual pledges

We are actively seeking FOUNDING PATRONS to lead the way in endowment for the Foundation to continue its important work. Your support allows us to develop our critical mission at the FarmOn! Foundation with build out of our educational incubator and working farm. To maximize the impact the next generations of farmers can on our local communities, requires a partnership with an organization that effects change on a local and state wide level. Together we grow a sustainable community center for agriculture, by raising awareness to food choices and sources for better health, and by pairing the entrepreneurial spirit with AG on a working farm. It is the only, an surefire way, to foster viable livelihoods in rural communities for students. Access to land and business tools are key to become profitable small-scale farmers and the next generation to feed us from the farm —instead of from factories. If the average age of the Farmer is 58 — who will continue to feed us well? Founding Patrons will have exclusive access to events and programming on the Farm, as well as special recognition on site and at events.
